Microwave

Very long distance microwave for Critical National Infrastructure

A sovereign, high-capacity radio path between countries, islands and remote sites, independent of subsea cables and quick to deploy. LiveTelco designs, licenses, installs and runs the link end to end, then watches it 24/7 from its NOC.

Why long-haul microwave

Independent of subsea cables

A second, physically separate path that keeps traffic flowing when a cable is cut or a landing station goes down.

Sovereign and controlled

A point-to-point link between two sites, with no third-party network in between and full control over routing and security.

Fast to deploy

Weeks, not years: no seabed survey or cable ship, using existing towers wherever possible.

Carrier-grade capacity

Gigabit-class throughput per link, with dual polarisation, XPIC and space diversity for stable operation over water.

Reference project

270 km point-to-point microwave link

LiveTelco installed, configured, tested and commissioned a long-distance microwave link between two points 270 km apart, mostly over the sea. The link is in operation and monitored 24/7 by the LiveTelco NOC.

From path study to 24/7 operation

  1. 1

    Path and propagation study

Line of sight, earth curvature, sea reflections and fading margins, with antenna sizes and heights chosen for the distance.

  2. 2

    Licences and permits

Frequencies, tower access and local approvals handled on both sides of the link.

  3. 3

    Towers and site works

Existing towers where possible, or new masts and poles, with power, cabinets and backup generators.

  4. 4

    Installation and alignment

Antennas, radios and cabling installed and precisely aligned by LiveTelco teams.

  5. 5

    Commissioning

End-to-end tests of received levels, both radio paths, multipath mitigation and throughput before handover.

  6. 6

    24/7 NOC and maintenance

Continuous monitoring, ticketing with escalation, and preventive and corrective maintenance.

Extend the link

  • Local loop and bandwidth on demand at each end
  • Fibre from the microwave site to any point required
  • LEO satellite terminals as an additional backup path
  • Premium security and backup power at the sites
